Sticking with expansion theory answers nothing but it creates more and more problems.

We have explained before that gravity is not after all an attraction between masses.

New Gravity explains that every mass pulls on space itself and since even mass is almost 100% empty a stream of space travels straight through every mass in existence.

As a consequence two masses near to each other pull on the same space between them and move closer giving an appearance of attraction which is not the case. Before mass existed there was random motion of space in all directions eventually by collision  and congruent spin, mass was created in trillions of places all over the universe. The universe existed to the same extent that is seen today. But now it had established cohesive permanent particles. Thus motion (energy) is assembled into mass. Further complications occur naturally producing the elements and compounds that now abound in today’s world.

The redshift of light from distant objects is because the distant stars or galaxies are exerting gravity on the on the space the  starlight travels to earth, every inch of travel and so alters the frequency. Travelling up a moving staircase that is moving down as it were. The extra space travelled accounts for the redshift.
